PDR Network Launches Pharmacy Discount Card Program to Help Patients Save on Prescription Medications
-- Trusted by Healthcare Providers, PDR Program Helps Reduce Their Patients’ Medication Costs --
MONTVALE, NJ–July 9, 2013 – PDR Network® – the industry-leader and publisher of the Physicians’ Desk Reference®, trusted by healthcare providers for nearly 70 years – has launched the PDR® Pharmacy Discount Card program to help patients save money on their prescription medications. This free program provides access to medications at discounted prices, helping patients save up to 75% on their prescriptions at more than 60,000 pharmacies nationwide. Developed to meet the needs of healthcare providers and their patients, PDR Network is distributing this program via healthcare provider offices, allowing them to share the program with their patients directly.
“The cost of a patient’s medication can be a burden that directly impacts their decision on whether or not to fill that prescription or take their medication as prescribed, which can result in treatment failure,” said Richard Altus, President, PDR Network. “By providing the opportunity for patients to save money on their medications, we are reinforcing our commitment to healthcare providers by supporting their patients – helping providers deliver optimal care by reducing economic treatment barriers to achieve better patient health outcomes.”
The PDR Pharmacy Discount Card is free to physicians and free to patients. Many patients can use the program, including those paying cash prices for their prescriptions, such as patients who do not have any pharmacy benefits or patients who have limited pharmacy benefits where they must pay for at least some prescriptions in full. Note: PDR always reminds physicians and patients that patients should check with their pharmacy benefit plan administrator if they have questions about their other options.
Healthcare professionals can elect to receive a starter kit in English, Spanish or both at no charge that includes: 24 pre-activated, ready-to-use PDR Discount Cards with patient instructions attached to the card; A counter display to provide patients with easy take-one access in the doctor’s office; and Informational office posters for patients and staff detailing the benefits of the program and key resources.
