Company Leadership

Edward Fotsch, MD, Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Fotsch has been a pioneer and national leader in healthcare IT for two decades. Dr. Fotsch has been recognized and served on multiple national health information technology (HIT) committees and panels; including work with HHS, CMS the FDA and industry. He has been repeatedly published in the area of HIT including authoring Planning and Implementing Your Healthcare Internet Strategy, and was the first recipient of the Liability Carrier Annual Patient Safety Award for his work in healthcare IT. Dr. Fotsch speaks frequently at healthcare IT industry conferences and is regularly quoted regarding healthcare technology issues by national press including the Associated Press, New York Times and the Wall Street Journal.

Richard Altus, President
Mr. Altus is responsible for the day-to-day management of PDR Network. As a proven leader with more than 25 years of experience, he has led the successful operation and growth of leading companies in healthcare and other fields. Prior to joining the company, Mr. Altus served in key management positions for numerous companies, including ImpactRx, where he served as President and Chief Executive Officer; Medical Broadcasting Company, as their Chief Operating and Financial Officer; and CBG Technologies as their Chief Financial Officer.

Valerie Berger, Senior Vice President, Publishing and Operations
Ms. Berger is focused on driving the company’s ongoing operational transformation enabling broad content management and electronic product delivery through multiple media.  As a senior company leader, Ms. Berger oversees all Operational functions (Content Operations, Production, Client Services, Manufacturing and Fulfillment, Clinical and Editorial Services, and Web Operations).  Additionally, she oversees PDR Network’s Trade and Direct Marketing sales channels and has overall product responsibility for PDR3D, the company’s proprietary online drug label database and research platform.  Prior to this role, Ms. Berger held the position of VP, Strategic Marketing and was responsible for building PDR Network’s practitioners database and launching various digital marketing programs for the company. She has more than 25 years of industry experience in Healthcare, Publishing and Information Services and has held a diverse range of positions in Operations, Marketing, Product Development and Management.
 
Dawn Carfora, Chief Financial Officer
Ms. Carfora oversees the operations for finance and accounting, human resources and administrative functions at PDR Network. Drawing on over 20 years of management experience, she provides leadership in the development and evaluation of short- and long-term strategic financial objectives, guiding the financial management of the company. Ms. Carfora has built a solid reputation for leadership and corporate financial management throughout her career including, previous experience as the Vice President and General Manager of MediZine, Finance Director at Fairfield Publications and Director of Finance while with Primedia Incorporated, among others.

David Cheng, Chief Technology Officer
Mr. Cheng leads the Technology team overseeing technical development of new digital products in partnership with Product Management as well as enhancing the capabilities of existing product offerings. Mr. Cheng brings extensive experience designing platform architectures and engineering complex software products for professional information companies, most recently as Vice President and Chief Content Architect of McGraw-Hill Education and previously as Chief Enterprise Architect of Reed Business Information.

Andrew Gelman, Senior Vice President, Corporate Development & General Counsel
Among other responsibilities, Mr. Gelman is responsible for establishing relationships with electronic health record (“EHR”) vendors and facilitating strategic partnerships to benefit both companies. Leveraging his proven track record for strengthening business-critical relationships, Mr. Gelman identifies opportunities to collaborate with EHR partners to deliver PDR Network’s industry-leading content through their platforms, adding value to the healthcare professionals’ ultimate EHR user experience. In addition to his focus on Corporate Development, Mr. Gelman serves as business leader for a number of emerging PDR products and services as well as General Counsel for PDR Network.  Prior to joining the company, Mr. Gelman led Business Affairs at Rodale Inc.; managed the Business Development group at Inside.com; and worked in East Coast Business Affairs at NBC Universal, where he supported NBC News and the launch of MSNBC. 

John Loucks, Senior Vice President of Sales
Mr. Loucks is the leader of the PDR Network sales team working to develop and strengthen relationships with clients across the healthcare industry. Mr. Loucks has worked with the healthcare industry for over 20 years and was previously the Chief Customer Officer for Relsys, the drug safety solutions company acquired by Oracle Corporation. During his time at Relsys, Mr. Loucks assisted in the development, sale and implementation of Argus Safety™, which became the number one drug safety system used by pharmaceutical manufacturers worldwide.

Steven Merahn, MD, Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Steven Merahn brings a background anchored in clinical operations, health policy, medical and regulatory affairs, and the design, adoption and integration of health information technologies (HIT) with special focus on decision support. In addition, Dr. Merahn has served in senior positions with industry-leading organizations, including Elsevier, overseeing online, mobile and EHR-integrated products; IBM Healthcare Business Services and Healthlink, honing strategies to increase adoption of EHRs and other Health IT technologies; and the Albert Einstein Healthcare Network, where as a member of their Operations Leadership Team, he led the organizational transformation initiative to achieve enterprise focus on clinical, quality and performance objectives.

Lucian Taylor, Senior Vice President of Product Management
Mr. Taylor oversees strategic planning and development of products across PDR Network focusing on product lifecycles and new opportunities for growth. An executive leader with more than 15 years experience, Mr. Taylor previously led Product Management at healthcare software companies and at other major technology corporations including Rosetta Stone, Microsoft and Autodesk.

Strategy for the Future
